A couple of months ago I noticed a strange phone number tagged on the side of some construction near my apartment: 1-800-jim-joe. Was it a joke or had an L merely smudged off of a guy named Jim Joel’s company phone number? I forgot about jim joe for awhile until I saw his name again, this time just “jim joe” in the Lower East Side on a fruit cart, and again, a few days later, on a newspaper container in Chelsea. Others informed me that they, too, had seen jim joe’s tag around. The photo was taken in the bathroom of a bar in Alphabet City where I again saw jim joe last week. I had a similar obsession with Thör in Pittsburgh awhile back, yet I felt like unlike jim joe, thor was already quite established and one was never surprised to see a new tag. I know people are starting to recognize this new tagger, as when I finally decided to google the guy, I found not only his website, but a slew of other comments about this new dude. So, jim joe, if you’re reading this from whichever corner of manhattan you are in today: I’m looking for you!

New favela paintings by Dutchies Jeroen Koolhas and Dre Urhahn who are rocking the Brazilian suburb murals since 2005. It sure gives some color to them…
When being a kid I once saw something on the tellie about a bubblegum alley in the USA somewhere which inspired me and some friends to do the same on our schoolyard wall. Didn’t get more done then 1 square meter I guess. Wonder if that wall also inspired Luxembourg based artist Simone Decker to make this piece on your right called Chewing in Venice.
