Quite nice: floppy and cassette art

February 18th, 2010 Sea Captain Plonk E

I think using floppies and cassettes in art has been done a bit too much now. But ok, these are quite nice. But after this, no more!

Quite nice: the longest whisper chain

August 5th, 2009 Mickey Tilburg

These people set the new world record in whisper chain making: 59 people. It takes a while to get to the end but then you’ll get an ‘Awwwwww-feeling’ after all.

Quite nice: Lost tribes of NYC

July 7th, 2009 Archibald Kobayashi

Urban anthropologists Andy & Carolyn London interview some of New York City’s more overlooked citizens. A bit stolen from Creature Comforts from Aardman Studios, but still quite nice.

Quite nice: Miniature works of Thomas Doyle

May 13th, 2009 Sea Captain Plonk E

Quite nice, these miniature sceneries created by artist Thomas Doyle. Why is it that a lot of people, mostly male, are so drawn to these miniature worlds? I remember going to theme park ‘The Efteling’ and spending hours at the Diorama miniature world there, glued to the windows like a cupping-glass. After visting The Efteling I allways wanted to build something similar at home with my Märklin train set with which I only could lay out an 8 form… or a 0…

(thanks Ingo!)

Quite nice: Grafica Fildalga

May 7th, 2009 Sea Captain Plonk E

“Grafica Fidalga, a printing press in São Paulo, Brazil, makes posters on a 1929 German letterpress using hand-carved wooden letters”

Listen to the fat sounds that press produces. Quite nice.

Quite nice: T Mobile commercial

February 4th, 2009 Archibald Kobayashi

Allright, it’s a bit corny and all but we have to admitt we raised the corners of our mouth watching this T Mobile advert. It was filmed at Liverpool Street station, London, one morning.

Quite nice: Ideographic Alphabet

January 25th, 2009 Archibald Kobayashi

But then again.. what the hell are you going to do with it? Like: “Ahh, great, we created the whole alphabet using only a couple of chairs! …So.. what are we going to do now?”

Quite nice: Kari Altmann
