  26th of april, live: New Tilburg Jetset, Episode 2

   

  Radio Kobayashi’s live streaming show New Tilburg Jetset starts to take shape with the second edition coming up on this friday (26th of april). This time Tilburg’s finest Stijn Selecter and the ever so cute Sri Sutino will be spinning records after I have played some tunes. We’ll start broadcasting from 18:00h and go on till 0:00h.   Reading the longest word out loud takes a little over 3,5 hours

  And this guy did it. Despite he didn’t pull it off in one take (look at the flowers) and it is not a real word (it’s a protein consisting of 189,819 letters) he still earns my applause. Because I tried looking and listening to his Russian mumbling for at least 20 minutes and I got pretty hypnotized. So I skipped through to the end to see it had a happy one, but it didn’t.

  New York City in the 80′s

  I turned 40 last week. Man… FOUR – FUCKING – OH.

  Made me think back to the time I was still a small fry, living in a very small Dutch town. Being 12 years of age, precisely half way the 80ties, I had only one big wish; to live in New York City. Yes, the only thing I wanted was to be in the city where that fresh thing called Hip Hop came from. I wanted to hang around basketball pitches in ‘The Bronx’ and ‘Brooklyn’ and go to places where the Rock Steady Crew battled with The Dynamic Rockers. Maybe I could join them? Mom, please can we go there on holidays at least?

  If she then would have access to this flickr page with outstanding pictures of that era, I would have crawled back safely behind her legs I guess.

  Back in business

  Back in business! Been a while. Reasons are that I’ve done a lot of other things instead. Like becoming a father. My lovely wife and I have adopted a boy from China. I also started a new business, and if that wasn’t enough I also learned to make music and produced an album. So bit of a busy bee. But now I got some spare time again to run my blog again.

  Who as Archibald Kobayashi again? Well to help you remind check this presentation of me that we did a couple of years back at a Pecha Kucha night in Breda.

  I launched a brand new layout of the blog today, and the thing that changed the most is the Radio Kobayashi part. The idea is to broadcast a live streamed tv/radio show every two weeks, of which tonight will be the kick off. So tune in at exactly 6PM to see some local talents spin some nice records.

  R.I.P. Pete Postlethwaite

  Pete Postlethwaite, the man who played Mr. Kobayashi as the right hand of Keyser Sose in the movie Usual Suspects, died yesterday at the age of 64. That character was kind of the inspiration for the name of my blog. Pete Postlethwaite was a gifted actor and had one of the friendliest faces I’ve ever seen. R.I.P.
