ExhibitionA.com is a members-only website that offers limited-release editions of work by top contemporary artists. Exhibition A opens today with a limited edition print by Hanna Liden. Other artists that will be featured in the future are Richard Phillips, Nate Lowman, David LaChapelle, Josephine Meckseper, Rene Ricard, Mark Borthwick, Terence Koh, Brad Kahlhamer, and more. The company was founded by Half Gallery owner Bill Powers, designer Cynthia Rowley, Laura Martin, and Gabby Munoz.

Cheerio!
I’ve only been to England once, and it was the necessary stop in London to see Big Ben, eat some Fish n’ Chips and scream at the top of my lungs in one of the Buckingham Guard’s faces. I was 12. Although I’ve traveled back and forth across the pond several times since to other European destinations, I have been aching to get back to the ole’ East End, see Stonehenge, and drive the countryside looking for men in sweaters and wandering goats. For now, however, I can escape here while sipping my tea and crumpets, and check out the beautiful photos of all of England’s natives, throughout the country. Split into different categories, these photographs best depict all aspects of UK life.

Noise about Nara
Yoshitomo Nara is a truly unique artist from Japan. He currently has a huge show at The Asia Society where I had the pleasure of taking a private tour. His stuff is both childlike and creepy; humorous and spooky.

booth sitters
You may have had the opportunity to see the PS1 Printed Matter Book Fair last week in NYC. I did. For 4 days. As I worked at one of the booths, I grew tired of taking the usual lap to check out new books and prints. My eyes started to bleed fonts and colors. Instead, I turned inward at my fellow booth sitters and I photographed them at their most lethargic. Enjoy! via Erin

When I was 5, I would have longed to live in one of Patrick Dougherty’s creations. Something about reading The Berenstein Bears in my formative years still makes me crave tree-living. Or possibly it was all those Keebler Elf commercials.

Ode to Muffin
We were convinced that my dog, Muffin (I named him when I was 5, due to muffins being my favorite breakfast treat) was really an old British man. Muffin enjoyed laying in the one spot of sun on the porch, laying on the rug, laying on the kitchen floor and eating left over Chinese food. He also enjoyed watching Charlie Rose. If he could, he would have smoked a pipe and discussed Shelley, I’m sure. Muffin rarely got too excited about anything after the age of 3, except when we would go on a car ride. “Bye Bye in the car” made his ears perk, his tail wag, and he’d forget all about his afternoon tea. I think he would have made a good dog for this series by Martin Usborne. Here’s to you Muff; I hope you are in a place where the crumpets are plentiful.

In high school I received a B in ceramics. Something about my glaze not looking correct. Twice. Although, I did make a pretty cool rattle that she put in the display case. That B still haunts me = clay intrigues me. A medium that, by all conventional grading systems, I simply haven’t mastered. Watch this video and you’ll understand.

OK Go!
The first 2 seasons of Weeds and the first 2 albums of Weezer have one thing in common: they were great. Then, as the old saying goes, “they went down the tubes.” And now we are left with a washed up and hollow version of what Rivers Cuomo used to be. The point of this (aside from me getting some of my pent-up 15 year old Rivers revenge out of the way) is to say that unlike Weezer, OK Go wants to actually keep succeeding (with their original fan-base). Plus they are creative and don’t need Harvard to prove it. I didn’t think they would be able to top their last few videos but alas, the newest one, “White Knuckles,” reminds me that not everyone fades away with a song about Pork and Beans. The door wedge: a brief history
So, the pasta is ready and for some hypothetical reason, all the forks have disappeared. You use a spoon. It is semi-distressing, but you come to terms once the warm marinara hits your lips. There aren’t many other options to eat Nana’s capellini with and why would you bother looking around to find one more suitable than the forks kin?
However, when one thinks of a door wedge, we are open to almost any possibility, including small pets and garbage. The other day I saw a plastic CD case barely standing its ground to a heavy metal door. I have probably used everything except something that was made to actually be a professional door wedge. There is no point to this story, just that here is a good idea for a door wedge next time you invite a lot of people over to eat fork-less pasta.

Tumblr Time
If someone gets hit by a shoe on national television, it becomes a YouTube sensation immediately. If someone notices they have been spotting a lot of photographs of moldy cheese, it becomes a Tumblr blog. Over the past few months I have noticed that Tumblr has expanded to include blogs with some of the most specific themes one can come up with. Here are three of the ones I spent entirely way too much time on today.
