Wow, this must have taken ages to finish. Great concept though by Maarten Baas, Hollands biggest design talent. Als world known for his burnt furniture.

Beautiful light calendar made by Accept and Proceed.

I’m not going to lie about this one. When I read a title like this I get butterflies in my stomach, because a) I love the Golden Ratio or the Devine proportion (I even have a tattoo of it on my arm), and b) I’m actually a huge nerd.
“Researchers from the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie (HZB), in cooperation with colleagues from Oxford and Bristol Universities, as well as the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, UK, have for the first time observed a nanoscale symmetry hidden in solid state matter. They have measured the signatures of a symmetry showing the same attributes as the golden ratio famous from art and architecture.”
So, Phi is not only in our visual world (in all flora and fauna, music, art, architecture, stockmarkets, you name it), but also in the smallest invisible nano quantum world. So ‘a God’ definately left a fingerprint in everything he ‘created’.

Artist Johannes Vogl did more interesting stuff, like a Marmeladenbrotstreichmaschine. Always comes in handy.

Clowns. Despite good intentions I will never trust them fully. But good photography though by Kyoko Hamada.

A giant touch screen by Intel on the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this year. Looks pretty nifty.
You are the centre of the celebration of the year… You shine like there was no tomorrow… You even get to guard the presents… And then? All of a sudden, its over… You can go… Away, you tree! With your nasty loose needles…
Haha, I never felt emotions for anything from the flora kingdom, but looking at those pictures make mee feel a little bit more like they do. See more of the sad trees here.

“Oompa loompas don’t sing in heaven. They tidy up the clouds.”
“Elephant trunks should be used for elephant things only. Nothing else.”
“Avocados? You can shove them up your ass as well.”
[suddenly, upon waking] “Stop the panther!”
“Don’t eat the jelly! Don’t eat the jelly! I made it with frog wee. It’ll turn your teeth green… Like mini apples.”
“You can stop clapping now if you want. Really. You’ll need your energy for cheering me later. Shhhhhhhh. shhhhhhhh.”
[ yelled upon waking] “COCK HUNTER!”
These are some words spoken by a certain Adam while he sleeps. Adam speaks so much in his sleep that his wife started a blog about it. What Adam says can be called hilarious. Read for yourselves.
(Thanks Michiel!)
I have this thing with true popperdy pop bands from the 80ies going on. There’s growing a steady love for that kind of music where I normally had not much interest. Growing old? Nowadays music is getting crappier? I don’t know, probably both. Result: Talk Talk - Life’s what you make it as my new best track ever.
Found this collection of great Swiss museum posters on Assemblyman. Go and check ‘m out.
(Thanks Marco!)
Proud we are! Not only on Tilburg but also on my (our) little brother who forms the blackmetal band Nihill, together with Vincent K. They just released their second album called Grond on Hydra Head Records and it got very good reviews. Listen to a track of the album here.
Respect. because I already get tired of only thinking of how to make such a reel, let alone really completing one…

As you can read above David Thorne is a guy with a sense of humor. Read the rest of this hilarious email conversation and more similar stories on his website. He bundled the adventures he had on internet in a book which I got from me misses today!
Nice identity for a French yacht race by Dutch graphic designers: Studio Dumbar.

Bought this thick book full with beautiful pictures of New York City street life from 1935 till 1960, shot by the legendary Weegee, a Ukranian immigrant who understood he was living in a special place which he’d better document.
The Black Gestapo: a 1 star movie from 1975 you better go and see… Sounds just like an all black dart team. Also eyebrow raising. It sure delivers nice images though.
