Scientists have been able to take, for the first time ever, a picture of an organic molecule. And you know what: it looks just like the line drawing you know form your science books (above). But is it really organic? It doesn’t really look that way if you ask me. Looks more like a well thought off structure… nininini.

Incubate is coming up! This superfestival in our hometown Tilburg that used to carry the name ZXZW, is held from september 13 to september 20. Make sure you are there to discover the bands and the artists of tomorrow.
BTW, rumors go that some people are organising that Tyree Cooper will do some dj spinning at the informal afterparty @ Club Vault at the Freshheads / Archibald Kobayashi studios on saturday night… Keep reading our blog for more updates!
No idea who Tyree Cooper is? Shame on you, but then better check this clip.
TV-glasses, a rainy-day-cigartette-holder, an anti-bandit-bag, and, yes, even a phone-answering-robot. Just too hilarious.

We actually really want to go the best festival in Europe on 14 to 18 october: Iceland Airwaves. Is there anybody interested in coming along with the Kobayashi crew? We’ve been to Iceland once and we tell you, it’s one special place. Combined with music it will be even more. Drop a mail if you’re interested!
Read wat NME has to say about it:
It’s 4 a.m. You’ve been to five cool clubs, seen ten great bands, made 15 new friends and fallen in love 20 times. You’re tired. You’re wired. You’re ready to find a bed. You’re ready to find the after-party. You can’t believe you’re here. You’re already making plans to come back next year. And guess what? It’s still Day One.
Since the first show held in 1999 (in an airplane hangar), Iceland Airwaves has become one of the premier showcases for new music – Icelandic and otherwise – in the world. It’s been called “the most innovative music festival since CMJ” and “as responsible for all of Reykjavík’s recent positive press as Björk herself”.
Some of the world’s most exciting artists, including Suede, The Flaming Lips, The Hives, Fatboy Slim, Thievery Corporation and rising stars such as Florence And The Machine, White Lies and Friendly Fires have made the short hop from Europe or North America to share the stages with Iceland’s finest talents: Sigur Rós, Gus Gus, Jagúar, Quarashi, Leaves, Trabant, FM Belfast, Steed Lord and many, many more. And when the live bands are finished, top DJs spin across the city until dawn.
But there’s more to Airwaves than music. Reykjavík is possibly the perfect festival city – small enough to be welcoming, sophisticated enough to offer cultural, historical and nightlife diversions to rival cities ten times its size. Maybe 20. And it’s surrounded by some of the most unique and astonishing natural beauty you’re ever likely to see. Roll out of bed, hose the party remains out of your hair and hop a bus. Before you can remember what you did the night before, you’re looking at geysers, waterfalls, lava fields – all the best that a volcanic island has to offer, including the world-famous Blue Lagoon, favorite soaking spot of the international hung-over glitterati. Mmm! You can really taste the hipster!
Pictures taken to boost up the moral of the troops in the period after WWI. Tss, like they needed that.. Much more pictures here.

It sounds like a lot like Tim Burton, but these exist for real!

In the early 1990’s a loose-knit group of likeminded outsiders found common ground at a little NYC storefront gallery. Rooted in the DIY (do-it-yourself) subcultures of skateboarding, surf, punk, hip hop & graffiti, they made art that reflected the lifestyles they led. Developing their craft with almost no influence from the “establishment” art world, this group, and the subcultures they sprang from, have now become a movement that has been transforming pop culture.
Starring a selection of artists who are considered leaders within this culture, Beautiful Losers focuses on the telling of personal stories. It speaks to themes of what happens when the outside becomes “in” as it explores the creative ethos connecting these artists and today’s youth”
With quite some famous artists like Harmony Korine, Ed templeton and Shepard Fairey. More here.
Today 40 years ago Woodstock, the mother of all festivals as we know it, took place. I have seen the video thousands of times and even though they were all hippies, I still can’t get enough. For the young ones: 3 days of live music and 400.000 people on a field. Two clips, the above one is Canned Heat, because it still kicks some serious ass and the other one is Richie Havens who had no teeth left because of the dope.
You know how they feel, those typical mondays. Then just look at this picture and realise it can always be worse.

Talking about Robert Mugabe, this is what you get when you let that prick dictate a couple of years more. Truely fantastic photography by Pieter Hugo.
