I’m gettig a Blade Runner kind of feeling when I look at these series of photo’s of urban architecture in Hong Kong taken by Micheal Wolf. What is missing are little 2-person spaceships going from left to right and the other way around, big neon zeppelins and a Chinese voice that repeats something incomprehensible over and over.

Quite nice, these miniature sceneries created by artist Thomas Doyle. Why is it that a lot of people, mostly male, are so drawn to these miniature worlds? I remember going to theme park ‘The Efteling’ and spending hours at the Diorama miniature world there, glued to the windows like a cupping-glass. After visting The Efteling I allways wanted to build something similar at home with my Märklin train set with which I only could lay out an 8 form… or a 0…

Are Rem Koolhaas‘ answers to the blobby shapes we see in architecture nowadays. With these plain geometrical shapes he designed a multifunctional building that can be rotated, so every shape-space gets its own purpose. An art exihibition, cinematic purposes, etc. See Koolhaas’ filmed explanation here.

Found this image on FFFFound and thought it was quite hypnotising and freaky. Later i saw that it was the head of Gary Busey, the actor with the biggest mouth in the world, that was photoshopped in this image and actually meant to be funny instead. Found a whole gallery of those here.

The latest hype in quick spreading online guerrilla media is without a doubt Zeitgeist. These mystical documentaries claim telling the truth about Christianity, 9/11 and the world banking system. Once you start watching you can’t stop, due to the atmospheric voices, images and sound. And ofcourse it smells like conspiracy big time but the arguments they bring up really made us think.

The bible of the grafitti movement, Subway Art, is celebrating his 25th anniversary this year. Got this book from Sinterklaas in 1985, when I was 12 years old. Actually Sinterklaas was not planning to give it to me anymore, because just before present day, me and my friends got busted by the police for doing the first ever piece in our hometown. But after some crocodile tears, because i desperately wanted that book, the guy with the long white beard gave it to me after all. I still thank him for that because that book partly made me what I am today. So cheers Martha and Henry, I just ordered the 25th anniversary edition!
…are not that futuristic anymore if this ol’ chap can fix such a thing in his hobby-garage.
