Besides creating their own stuff and exposing it here, the Kobayashi group strolls the net for all eye and ear candy to share with you. Music, art, design, film, fun, you name it. Every day new posts, every day Archibald Kobayashi… more >>
Found this on Architectune, a very good blog on things related to architecture and sound. This is a video in which you can see the influence of resonance on material. I advise you to not open up your speakers too high.
Haven’t got anything planned on Queens Night and/or Day? Come to Klub Tilt in 013 this wednesday eve and/or The Hall of Fame on thursday from 13.00h for a good dose of beats! Our own Sea Captain Plonk E is doing the graphics for this klub and, as you can see on the posters, last but ot least, my name appears on the line-up! Rumours are the whole Kobayashi family will be present. Search for an old Japanese man standing in the corner. He will buy you a beer if you dare talk to him.
My head is still a bit spinning because of the little masterclass web 2.0 I just got from my good friend and internet guru Wout. He explained me how Posterous worked. First he drew the drawing you see above. Then he took a picture of the drawing with my phone. Then he mailed it via my phone to my new posterous blog. The posterous blog then automaticly sent it to my Flickr, Twitter and Facebook accounts where the picture appeared. My Flickr account is linked to this blog as you can see on your right. I copied the image location and posted it in this blogpost. That’s how it goes nowadays folks!
Looks pretty simple if I write it down like that, but just some years back there were no mobile phones, digital cameras and internet. So if you would have heard this story back then, you probably would have thought that somebody was trying to create a wormhole from a parallel universe to kidnap all of human kind…
This is one of the most intriging videos I have seen on the youtube so far. Its a rare film about a long lost subculture called the Sharpies. Being a Sharpie meant that you had a status between being a skinhead and a rock & roll fan, if i’m correct. It is so intriging to me I think because I see much of my youth in it. Although the film is shot in 1974, I was 1 at that time but i had a serious mullet later in my teenager period, it looks like those faces with the perfect hairdo’s are something that remind me vividly of home. At the same time tough and violent but on the other hand very safe and peaceful in a way, like some sort of mullet-utopia. Man, just look again: the shoes at 0:20, the guy at 1:15 or that odd dancing at 2:25…
Who cut yer hair? Grant?
Who cut yer hair? Grant?
Who cut yer hair? Grant?
Totally brilliant combined with the music of Lobby Lloyd.
To the Roosevelt Hotel y’all! That was where we were staying in NYC this february. Hotel prices are a laugher nowadays so we chose to sleep in this 4 star accomodation on Madison Avenue. In 5 days we went to see the big museums (MoMa, Guggenheim and so on), zigzagged across Manhattan with the subway, shopped our asses off in SoHo, did some jazzclubs, ate burgers and went out dancing one night at The Webster Hall to hear Steve Aoki of The Cobrasnake doing a fake DJ set . He sucked, but we had a grand night standing on platforms ruling the place and be as loud as dutchies can get. See moving footage of our trip here and photos in the Flickr departement on your right.
After some time we took for renewing the site, we are up and running again and here to stay! Many thanks to the viewers and posters of the first hour: Wout, Vio, Ingo, DuSwoin, ZXZW Joost, Greenboy, Flattyre, Eighty Purr, LouLou, KRD, Nick, Pier, Phoolie, RodOryx, Fina and offcourse Gijs who helped me out programming this thing. Please keep tips and reactions coming in. You will get eternal honour in return.

Paula Scher, designer of tons of record sleeves and, for instance, the CitiBank logo, talks about the fun in design. It starts pretty slow but it becomes actually quite interesting with visual examples and all. About seriousness against solemness. Just watch it.
I mean, we had to stay on the airport in Bangkok for 5 hours last week to wait for our transfer flight, and I so wanted to lie down, but there are only hard uncomfortable seats you will find on every airport.
This robot, installed at the 3d International Biennial of Contemporary Art in Seville, writes down the whole bible. “The machine draws the calligraphic lines with high precision. Like a monk in the scriptorium it creates step by step the text.” Great to see how two extremes of today (religion and science) are brought together. (Thanks LouLou!)
